A Letter from Pastor Ed

Dear GateWay Family,

Our prayer is that your love for Jesus is deepening during this time and that we will all come back from this with a greater appreciation for the need for fellowship with other believers. Since August 9th, 2020 we have been meeting outdoors at 9am for in person gatherings along with our online services. As the weather begins to change, our outdoor services will no longer be feasible, so we have made plans to re-open our campus for services starting on Thursday, November 19th and Sunday, November 22nd, 2020 or earlier if the weather demands it.

Some things that we have tried to keep in mind are: ∙ The call to fellowship online or in person with other believers. ∙ The responsibility to love our people and protect our more vulnerable population without making them feel left out of church life.∙ The call to be a witness to the love of Jesus to the Visalia region in the practical steps that we take. ∙ The need for a wise plan with realistic timing. We don’t want to jump in too early and have to keep readjusting if the virus spikes in our area. We also need time for our team to get safety protocols in place for reopening our physical campus and to get our live stream equipment up and running for our online campus.

Of course, there is no perfect reopening plan that will suit every person’s preference. As we take steps to reopen our campus, let’s all willingly submit our preferences to a generalized plan to achieve the greater good, maintaining the unity of the body. We understand that this plan will feel too fast for some and too slow for others. That’s the challenge and the beauty of having a diverse congregation. Thank you for using this as an opportunity to honor others in our church family who feel differently than you and for honoring your church leaders as they shepherd.

The plan on the following page is meant to be flexible. Adapt it to fit your unique situation and your own caution level while at the same time not giving in to fear or becoming apathetic about the need for fellowship. COVID is obviously a fluid situation with unpredictable regional spikes. As a result, while this timeline represents our planned re-opening, we may have to adjust our timeline based on the COVID status in the community. We love each and every one of you and are honored to serve and lead this church family.

It is important to understand that we will be following all CDC guidelines while on the campus. We ask that you wear a mask, keep 6 feet of distance between you and those not of your household and ask attenders to not touch any surface. We recommend using the restroom before you come on campus, but the restrooms will be available at your own risk. The GateWay staff will be thoroughly cleaning the campus between and after each service with CDC recommended disinfectant. We will also be circulating the air in the building the entire duration of churchservices, therefore bring a sweater to service AND PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN LAWN OR BEACH CHAIR.

God Bless,
Pastor Ed Kemp

At this time, GateWay Kids services will remain online at 9:45am Sunday mornings. Childcare will not be provided during in-person services at this time, but children are encouraged to sit in service with their family and follow social distancing guidelines in place (mask required for ages 2+). GateWay Kids will provide a coloring sheet for the kids of families who will be attending.
